Field Sampling in the Sea of Okhotsk (Hokkaido, Japan)

From February 24 to March 3, 2026, Dr. Chunqi Jiang took part in a field sampling campaign along the Okhotsk coast of Hokkaido, Japan.

Sampling sites included Lake Saroma during the ice-covered season and several coastal locations in the Sea of Okhotsk region.

Despite challenging winter conditions, seawater and sea-ice samples were successfully collected. These samples will be used to investigate microbial diversity and ecological processes in ice-associated marine environments.
